British firms see opportunities in Indian airports

New Delhi: The British Airports Group (BAG), Britain's leading representative body of aviation firms, sees opportunities for business worth $5-10 billion in India's airport development sector. "India is one of the most exciting aviation markets. We perceive there is a business worth $5-$10 billion to be done here," said BAG chairman Malcolm Trigg. Trigg was speaking at a seminar hosted by UK Trade and Investment here as part of a BAG delegation's four-day India visit beginning Monday. Stating that more and more companies were shifting their business focus from China to India, Trigg said: "British aviation companies increasingly feel there's more business potential in India than China today." Some of the big names represented in the delegation are National Air Traffic Services, ATG Airports Ltd, Novar Projects/Honeywell and FKI Logistex. A number of British companies like Menzies, Mott MacDonald, HOK are already working with the Airports Authority of India. The delegation plans to visit Hyderabad and Mumbai too.
