British Airways launches flights to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: British Airways Sunday commenced direct flights from London to Hyderabad, its sixth destination in India. The inaugural flight from London's Heathrow airport landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, near here, at 4.40 a.m. Sunday. The inaugural flight received a water cannon salute and later took off at 7:30 a.m., said a statement from RGIA. British Airways will operate five weekly non-stop flights between Hyderabad and London. The new route also offers convenient connections to 22 destinations in North America. The airline currently operates 43 flights per week from London to five cities in India. The new flight will depart from Hyderabad on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0730 hours and arrive at Heathrow's Terminal 5 at 1300 hours. In the return direction, it will leave Heathrow on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 1340 hours and will arrive at Hyderabad airport 0440 hours the following day.
