In a bid to expand its operations in India, Robert Bosch India has launched its ‘Clean room’ at their headquarter in Bangalore. As part of their electronic design services, the new facility will be used to provide engineering and non-engineering services. These include electronic control unit development for automotive, industrial, consumer goods and building technology, and IT services, process consulting, mechanical engineering, IC design, shared services accounting and translation. The company has invested around Rs 850 million into the facility and will house over 2200 employees. Highlighting the development activities at the new center, Walter Grote, Managing Director, Robert Bosch India said, “ Out of 22,000 engineers worldwide in Bosch, around 3000 are in India. This center is of significant value to us.” Bosch is also planning to set up a second facility in India this year, apart from the existing facility in Bangalore. The company is targeting a headcount of 6000, equally spread between the two facilities by 2010, from the current 3000. “This is a significant milestone for us – we look forward to playing a greater role in providing cutting-edge technology to give our customers a leadership position in their highly competitive business environments. Being in Bangalore is very exciting, as this is the hub of most talented engineers,” says Grote.
