New Delhi: New Delhi based skill development and job placement services company, Bodhicrew Services has secured 30 lakh (around $60,000) in seed fund from Unitus Seed Fund. The funds would be used to streamline the operations and set up offices in other parts of the country.

The company was founded by Vivek Kumar Kaushik and Manab Chakraborty in January 2012. “There are approximately 24,000 placement agencies in Delhi, of which only 110 are registered. We focus on ethical sourcing and training of the people from the unorganized sectors. Our aim to cut across various sectors like domestic work, textile industry, construction sectors, but in the first year we would like to focus on domestic work in New Delhi. There is ample demand in this sector, but the challenge is to train them and make them job-ready,” says Vivek Kaushik, Co-Founder & CEO, Bodhicrew Services.

The company tries to build a rapport with the local agencies like the District authorities, the Gram Panchayats, the local NGOs, and the families of the prospective candidate, and once the candidate is enrolled, they do full background verification and keep the local authorities updated on the developments. Post placement, the company submits the details to local authorities in the place where the candidate is placed.

Prior to co-founding Bodhicrew Services, Kaushik was a Consultant at Partners in Prosperity, Founder of EDWELL, a Deputy Manager at Innovest Advisory Services, and a Management Trainee at Voyants Solutions. Kaushik has pursued his MBA, Finance from ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon, and holds a B.Sc. in Zoology and Botany from Punjab University.

Unitus Seed Fund is a Seattle and Bangalore based nonprofit organization, which has made its debut in India by investing in Bodhicrew Services, Hippocampus Learning Centers, and Milaap Social Ventures. The fund will make initial investments in the range of $50,000-$100,000 and may increase with additional rounds. It looks to back the startups, serving the bottom-of-the-pyramid markets like education, healthcare, energy, and mobile services.
