Blue Star bags Rs 220 M order from York International

Blue Star Infotech, a mid-size Indian software solutions provider, Monday said it has bagged a software development order worth 220 million from U.S.-based York International Corp.

NEW DELHI: Under the agreement, Blue Star will develop a state-of-the-art support system to be used by York International's worldwide sales channels, said a company statement issued here. York International is a Fortune 500 global designer and manufacturer of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration products, with revenues exceeding $4 billion. "York found an ideal partner in Blue Star with its ability to deliver such a software solution at nearly half the cost that was estimated by York," said Parmod Bhalla, managing director of Blue Star Infotech. "The contract was awarded to Blue Star Infotech as it had demonstrated its ability to meet the critical business needs of York International," he added. Blue Star said it would deliver the solution using an integrated onsite-offshore development model. "The development will be phased over a three-year period and at its peak, the team size is expected to exceed 50 consultants," said the company statement. The development team will comprise of two units - a software development unit comprising of developers and a consultancy unit comprising of high-level equipment design engineers, it added. Headquartered in Mumbai, Blue Star has software development centres in Mumbai and Bangalore in India, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The company serves its global clientele through offices in California, New Jersey, Texas, and Toronto in North America, London and Helsinki in Europe and Kuala Lumpur in South East Asia.
