WALTHAM: BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of data center automation software, today announced the availability of BladeLogic Operations Manager 6, the latest version of the company’s industry-leading suite of data center automation software solutions. Unlike all other automation solutions, which are oriented towards the management of physical devices, BladeLogic Operations Manager 6 allows IT organizations to simplify the complexity of managing large data center environments by modeling and managing services, so that provisioning, change and compliance actions are executed at the service level while the underlying devices and associated configuration settings are automatically managed in the background. This service-oriented approach enables IT staff to easily translate business requests into operational tasks, resulting in an IT organization that is more aligned and responsive to the requirements of the business. Additional features in this release include advanced support for VMWare ESX for integrated physical and virtual infrastructure management; support for SUSE Linux, which extends BladeLogic’s leadership position in support of all major OS platforms; architectural enhancements that allow Operations Manager 6 to manage tens of thousands of servers across multiple data centers, making it the most scalable platform in the industry today; new APIs that easily facilitate the integration of BladeLogic with other tools in the data center; and the availability of BladeLogic Configuration Connector that enables IT organizations to manage configuration information stored in external repositories such as SQL and LDAP or non host-based devices such as load balancers and firewalls. "Moving to a real-time infrastructure requires the IT organization to behave like a profit center, providing value-based IT services that drive the business," said Donna Scott, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner Research. "RTI solutions create an environment where provisioning, change and compliance actions are directly correlated to business requirements to drive the dynamic optimization of the IT infrastructure, thus dramatically reducing costs while increasing agility and quality of service." "To support our ambitious growth plans we needed a flexible data center automation platform to easily manage a dynamic and rapidly expanding application infrastructure," said Myles Trachtenberg, Chief Technology Officer, FreshDirect, an online fresh-food manufacturing and delivery service. "We chose BladeLogic Operations Manager 6 because it was by far the most comprehensive data center automation solution we evaluated. FreshDirect achieved dramatic efficiencies and improved application uptime within weeks of adopting BladeLogic. We are confident that BladeLogic will not only help us keep IT costs low even as our business grows, but also enable us to evolve to a service-oriented environment where business policies drive the allocation and optimization of IT resources." With more customers than any other automation provider, BladeLogic has built a compelling track record as the industry’s most sophisticated data center automation solution that enables companies to significantly reduce data center operating costs, improve IT responsiveness and increase security. With the introduction of this new release, BladeLogic has taken data center automation to the next level by providing the most complete platform specifically designed to address the full lifecycle of server management, so organizations only have to use one solution for provisioning, change, administration and compliance. "Organizations today need to evolve their IT environment to a state where resources can be easily and quickly re-purposed to meet changing business requirements," said Dev Ittycheria, president and CEO of BladeLogic. "With the availability of Operations Manager 6, BladeLogic dramatically extends its leadership position by delivering the most complete solution in the marketplace today. It is especially gratifying that forward-thinking companies such as FreshDirect are using Operations Manager 6 to significantly improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of managing the data center as well as to enable a highly nimble, business-driven IT environment that delivers a distinct competitive advantage."
