Blackstone Group hires new executive director

The Blackstone Group has roped in Ravi Ramanan an executive director. Ramanan was formerly senior vice president for functional excellence at Solectron Corp. Prior to that, he served for 13 years in a number of staff and management positions at General Electric. James Quella, senior managing director at Blackstone, said, "As we increase the focus on assisting our portfolio company management teams improve operational performance and create productivity through continuous improvement initiatives, we are delighted to add Ravi's experience and capabilities to the Blackstone team." The Blackstone group is also in news as one of the leading contenders to purchase DaimlerChrysler's ailing Chrysler group. The Blackstone Group, a global private investment and advisory firm, was founded in 1985. It has raised approximately $70 billion for alternative assets investing across its Private Equity, Real Estate, Corporate Debt, Distressed Debt, and Marketable Alternative Investments groups.
