Biyanis mentor execs to guide Future Group's businesses
Kolkata: Although the Future group Founder CEO Kishore Biyani's family members are at the top management positions, Biyani has made it clear that the future chief executives may not be family members but from the professional fraternity, report Subhro Niyogi and Udit Prasanna Mukherji from TNN. With Biyani putting in place a succession plan for the future, the next generation of Biyanis are being groomed to take on the role of mentors to guide the businesses. Commenting on who would succeed him at the helm, Kishore Biyani replied to TOI, "It isn't that simple. There's a team of professionals. The Biyanis can become mentors and guide the management. Things will be in place at the right time." The eldest daughter of Biyani, Ashni who has taken a mentoring role for Big Baazar, Family Centre, the new format of the value retailing, said that the family office works in an informal manner. "We have a family office which has seven members from the family. The objective of the home office is to give the group business a strategic direction while separating family and business interests. We meet every now and again at home to share ideas and discuss future possibilities. A key component of the home office is the mentoring role - both capital and ideas - that the seniors impart to the next generation," Ashni said.
