Biotech recommends 100% FDI in sector

NEW DELHI:The Department of Biotechnology has recommended to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion for permitting 100 percent FDI in the biotechnology sector through automatic route.
Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal said that the Department has stated that new national institutions and centers of excellence should be promoted in the area of translation research in public health, marine biotechnology, animal biotechnology, nutritional genomic and food biotechnology, herbal medicine, molecular medicine, biomaterials and devices and bioinformatics.
