Bill Gates bars his family from using Apple products

Washington: Rivalry between technology giants Microsoft and Apple has now entered the house of the former's founder Bill Gates. The computer czar Bill Gate has banned his family from using Apple's iPhone and iPod gadgets.
"Bill has barred in three kids, Jennifer, 13, Rory, 10 and Phoebe, 7 from using any of the Apple products," revealed Melinda Gates, wife of Bill Gates, in an interview to Vogue magazine.
"There are very few things that are on the banned list in our household. But iPods and iPhones are two things we don't get for our kids," said Melinda.
However, Melinda admitted that there are times she feels envious of her friends' iPhones. "Every now and then I look at my friends and say 'Ooh, I wouldn't mind having that iPhone'," she added.
With the arrival of Apple products like iPod and iPhone that challenges the dominance of Microsoft; these two firms have become rivals in the technology market.
There have been rumors of animosity between Gate and Apple founder Steve Jobs, but they have made public efforts to appear friends.
Bill Gate has stepped down as chief executive of Microsoft to concentrate charity activities of the Bill& Melinda Gates Foundation, a philanthropic organization. Steve Jobs, meanwhile has been forced to take sick leave because of health problem.
