Big Bear Networks appoints Amit Jain President, CEO

SUNNYVALE, CA: Big Bear Networks Inc., a provider of 10 and 40 gigabit-per-second optical system products, has appointed Amit Jain as President and Chief Executive Officer. Jain replaces former Chief Executive Mark Thompson. Jain said the company expects to reach cash flow positive by the end of 2005. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Big Bear has more than 50 employees. Jain served previously as co-founder, president and chief executive of Versatile Optical Networks Inc. After Vitesse Semiconductor acquired Versatile in 2001, Jain stayed on as vice president and general manager of the firm's optical system division. Earlier in his career, Jain held various management and engineering positions at Terastor Corp., Optex Communications and Digital Equipment Corp.
