Bharti, IBM sign $150 Mn deal for IPTV, DTH plan

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has signed a $150 million agreement for six years with IBM to launch differentiated services in broadband, media, IPTV and DTH segments for Airtel. Under the agreement, IBM would bring in its global expertise in areas, including the telemedia business, distribution, enterprise segments and business resilience, said Bharti Airtel. The company will also strengthen its distribution and prepaid segment and provide a unified experience to its customers. IBM will transform the current IT platforms and enhance customer experience by supporting differentiated customer relationships. This will enable and support channel transformation, which is essential for rural market penetration. IBM will also enhance the delivery of value-added products and services to the prepaid segments, the company said. To improve customer satisfaction and seamless services IBM would work with Airtel in areas including Least Cost Routing (LCR), GIS, Auto Discovery, Auto Provisioning and Auto Activation.
