New Delhi: Bharti Airtel, India's largest mobile service operator, will double its towers to 80,000 by February 2009 to expand its network, chairperson and managing director Sunil Bharti Mittal said Tuesday. "Last year we doubled our number of towers to 40,000. We are now planning to double it to 80,000 for increasing our coverage. These towers can come up anywhere where there is a need," Mittal told reporters here on the sidelines of a marketing conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). "These towers would be set up anywhere in the country, especially in the remote rural areas," Mittal added.
