Bangalore: The fake Antivirus Programs known as Scareware are popularly known to everybody. False claims like computer getting infected with malware fetch the criminals their bread, butter and luxuries as an infected computer drives people to buy another system which reveals their credit card number to the criminals. The consumer is at a loss from all the sides as the new product bought caters no good to his needs and requirements, as reported by Elinor Mills.

The fake defraggers generally approach people as to fix disk errors on their computers. As a post stated today, GFI labs, formerly known as Sunbelt Software, have mentioned in their blog that after they dubbed the programs FakeAV-Defrag rogues, names like HDDDiagnostic, HDDRepair, HDDRescue, and HDDPlus had appeared.

The only method to avoid being cheated by these scammers according to GFI labs is to be careful with the applications that are advertised via e-mail, pop up warnings about problems (especially immediately after you click on a Web page video). Consumers should tactfully handle the situation when computer applications demand them to make a purchase before the problem is fixed and suggest for browser updation.

Names like HDDDiagnostic, HDDRepair, HDDRescue, and HDDPlus are just the scammer's attempts so as to confuse the potential people and escape exposure by genuine antivirus software. The defragger clones emerged last month with names like UltraDefragger, ScanDisk and WinHDD and which pretended to find "HDD read/write errors.
