BenQ launches Joybees in Indian MP3 player market

MUMBAI: BenQ, an industry leader in networked digital lifestyle devices, has announced the launch of Joybees (BenQ's rendition of digital music players). BenQ will launch 4 models of its MP3 player including Joybee 110, Joybee 120, Joybee 150 and Joybee 180. The Joybees will be launched in a phased manner till Q2 2004 and priced between 8600 to 18000. The model currently launched, BenQ Joybee 110, has curved, flowing lines of the bee-like form factor and supports MP3, WAV, TVF audio formats. It features a USB flash drive, language learning (A-B function), provides seven preset equalizer modes and up to 3,000 minutes (at 128MB capacity) audio storage capabilities. Speaking at the launch, Sourabh Edwankar, Business Manager - IT Products, BenQ India said, "The Joybee 110 has the perfect combination of a unique portable design, single-hand-use, optimum audio performance and weighs only 26 grams. Designed specifically for the young, stylish and music loving people who are on the move - at work or at sport, the Joybee's voice recording capabilities also makes it an ideal tool for workers such as journalists and secretaries, as well as students." BenQ Joybees will be made available in key retail outlets across major metros. The Joybees will also be distributed through the IT retail channel for which BenQ has tied up with Aditya, a leading national distributor of IT products with over nine years of experience. Aditya has 22 branch offices supporting a network of more than 1200 resellers nationwide. With its small dimensions and long battery life (~10 hours), the Joybee 110 is designed for on-the-move performance. The Joybee 110 offers multifunction features such as voice recording and USB flash drive capabilities. The integrated audio recorder allows users to record up to 3,000 minutes of sound, which enables the repeat playback or playback speed functions - perfect for reviewing meetings, interviews, lectures or voice notes. The Joybee 110 comes with BenQ's Q-Music software for easy music editing. In addition, the product features upgradeable firmware to make sure users will always be up-to-date.
