Battery Ventures names Samir Kothari senior associate

SAN MATEO, CA: Technology venture capital firm Battery Ventures has appointed Samir Kothari as senior associate, a newly created position. Founded in 1984, Battery Ventures focuses on technology companies at all stages.
Kothari will work in the companys San Mateo, Calif. office and will work on investments in the software, consumer, internet and wireless markets.
Before joining Battery Ventures, Kothari earlier worked at BEA Systems Inc., where he was involved in the launch of WebLogic platform. He also worked as a product manager at Microsoft Corp. in the .Net Enterprise Servers group.
Battery has over $2 billion in committed capital, including its new fund of $450 million, which was closed in October.
Battery Ventures portfolio companies include Airespace Inc., Akamai Technologies Inc., Allegiance Telecom Inc., Arbor Networks Inc., among others.
