New Delhi: Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune are the most vibrant cties among 50 cities in India with Bangalore topping the list. "AlphaWise City Vibrancy Index: A Guide to India's Urbanization", measures the key drivers of urbanization such as physical infrastructure, financial penetration, consumer services and job listings. The index helps investors evaluate companies strategic positioning in urban centers and monitor sector trends over time. It also acts as a guide on the relative level of urbanization across India's top cities, states a study brought out by Morgan and Stanley.
Being Asia's third largest economy India lags behind other nations because of the slow pace of urban development. One-quarter of the world's 20 most densely populated cities are in India. Mysore and Meerut falls on second and sixth places respectively among India's 50 most populated cities. By 2030 India is expected to give shelter to almost 590 million people which is almost double the population of the U.S.
Rate of economic growth in the cities can be measured from the fact that nearly 25 percent of India's top 200 cities don't have car dealership, 10 percent doesn't have 5 star hotel and around 62 percent are still waiting for retail chain stores or hypermarkets.
Findings are based on a City Vibrancy Index (CVI), which among other factors looks at, infrastructure, job opportunities, modern consumer services and a city's ability to mobilize savings - what it calls key drivers of urbanization. Bangalore, India's IT hub fulfills the criteria and stands on top of the list. New Delhi, capital of India, stands eighth and financial capital of India, Mumbai stands at 21st.
"Urbanization is a core component to the process of city formation and building out India's competitive strength in the global markets. The India Urbanization findings underscore our commitment to putting clients at the forefront of the most timely investment debates," said Ridham Desai, Head of India Research and India Strategist at Morgan Stanley.
The AlphaWise Evidence Series was first launched in India in June 2010 with the first ever corporate survey of 260 large and medium sized companies, this was followed by a farmer survey, auto survey and then the second wave of the corporate survey. The team started 2011 with surveying the unemployed in Urban India in order to get their unique insights.

Let the people who voted for Bangalore as top city come and experience the real Bangalore.
Lack of Drinking Water( You Need to get up in the middle of the night to collect water)
Autocratic Auto Driver.( You need to literally beg this @#$%^ to reach your place)
Horrible Roads (A pregnent lady may as well deliver inside the ambulance itself or a healthy person can develop spondalytis within six months of riding)
Bangalore - Vibrant City - My foot.
I know it because i am living in this Vibrant city.

Bangalore's population has shot up what 15 fold in the last two decades? Is this the definition of a vibrant city? Seriously?
