Bangalore: One more case of Swine Flu (H1N1 influenza) has been reported in Bangalore, when a 29-year-old IT professional returned to Bangalore from Changsha, China on June 28 tested positive. This case took the total number of confirmed cases to 18 in the city and 116 in the country.
The final report of IT professional came yesterday from National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. On Wednesday, NIV, Pune received a total of 17 samples from Bangalore, out of which six were sent directly from Bangalore International Airport.

Sources among the medical staff stationed at the Bangalore International Airport sought to put the confusion in perspective. As part of the screening measures at the airport, people are told to remain alert for any symptoms and it is possible some of them are turning 'apprehensive and hyper' reporting themselves for tests at private hospitals.
Most of the private hospitals in the country are not well equipped to handle this virus. As of now, only the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi have the infrastructure and technical know-how for testing swine flu cases.
Till today, a total of 769 persons in India have been tested for the dreaded swine flu influenza. The Indian authorities have taken all possible precautions to thwart the spread of the swine flu which has affected 70,893 people and claimed 311 lives worldwide.
