Bangalore: The Wikimedia Foundation is scouting the country in its bid to decide the Wikicapital of India. And the cities of Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi are competing with each other to grab the title. Barry Newstead, Chief Global Development Officer, Wikimedia Foundation is in the country and going around cities to settle on a final city. He said, "The top priority of the Wikimedia Foundation is to support the growth of communities of Wikimedians in India across the multitude of languages in the country." Wikimedia Foundation is a non- profit organization that is involved in developing and distributing free, multilingual web based content. Wikipedia is the company's premier project that rates amongst the top ten most-visited websites in the world. Newstead added, "We are planning to work with the community to spread the word about Wikimedia's work with the goal of enabling millions more Indians to contribute to and benefit from Wikimedia's free knowledge projects."
