Bangalore IT firms offer help to combat terror

Bangalore: In the light of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, software companies in Karnataka have offered to share their technology expertise with the state police in combating terror. The companies have also asked the government for help to train the private security agencies which protect their offices, reported The Economic Times. Followed by the terrorists coming under control of NSG in Mumbai, the proposals of combating the terror were made by corporate honchos to the top Karnataka government officials were welcomed by Karnataka's top cop, Director General and Inspector General of police R Srikumar. According to Srikumar, "The nature of the attacks in Mumbai shows that terrorism is not just a problem for the police. It is a military issue now." Around 25,000 staff employed by private agencies provide security at software companies including at the campuses of Infosys Technologies and Wipro, the country's second and third largest software exporters, respectively.
