BSNL launches roaming in 164 countries

NEW DELHI: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), India's largest telecom services provider, Thursday announced the launch of international roaming facility for its mobile phone customers. "BSNL subscribers travelling outside India can enjoy voice, fax and data services, including short messaging services, in over 164 countries from February 1," said V.P. Singh, chairman and managing director of BSNL. The roaming service will be available to both post-paid and pre-paid mobile phone customers, Singh told a press conference here. State-run BSNL provides fixed-line, mobile and limited mobility telephone services in different parts of the country.
