According to the police, Edward Burns, an employee of sector 62 based BPO firm EXL Solutions, had siphoned off about 56,900 pounds (
4.08 million) to bank accounts in Britain.Burns, an Indian citizen, was working in the insurance claims division of EXL, which contracted work of leading British insurance firm Aviva.
Burns was assigned to maintain the clients' data of Aviva and had a detailed list of contacts of these people.
After opening accounts under fake names, Burns, instead of transferring the insurance claim amounts to the actual insurers, credited the amount into these fraudulently created bank accounts, the police alleged.
Burns has been arrested and a case registered against him for committing cyber crime under the 1966 IT Act and for cheating his company under relevant sections.

It's a shame. What was the management doing? Don't they have the software to monitor the individual screens of the employees, which almost all the BPO's do? These kind of incidents definitely get a bad name to hard working and talented people as well. These people should be punished severely.

There is need to put CCTVs in India to be more vigilant and have a moral check on staff like developed countries where almost every Minister has a free tour and if not ask Lallu.

He had a British Name, British account but an India Mind....Grow up dude......there are smarter folks than u around...
There should be dual authorisation/ release especially when there is a release of fund...KYC rules need to be reviwed whichever country it is...Such huge funds should always be sent to a second and preferably third level before the transfer.....
Corporate Governance.....hmmm...point to ponder..."India Shining" for wrong resons...

I FEAR TO HEAR THE NEWS THAT THE BPO EMPLOYEE MADE A FRAUD OF 4.08 INDIAN RUPEES FRAUD BY DRAWING THE FUNDS FROM THE CLIENT AVIVA . I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE OTHER OFFICALS WHO ARE MAIN STREAM OF THIS TRANSCATION IS NOT IDENTIFIED. BY ARREST SINGLE EMPLOYEE WILL NOT SLOVE THE PROBLEM . IT IS BETTER TO SCAN THE ENTIRE BPO OFFICE. FURTHR I CAUTION THE CLIENTS THAT THEY EXPOSING PASSWORDS OF THEIR FOR UN AUTHORISED PERSONS WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE OFTHE ACCOUT TRANSACTIONS.SO IT WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SO CAUTIOUS ABOUT TRANSCATIONS IN THEIR ACCOUNTS.

Idiot. WHile India Inc. is recuperating from Satyam's fraud, this will be another shocker if this news spreads.
Similar to bank transactions that has an authorization procdure, all such transactions that effect in the BPO world should also undergo an authorization procedure.
WHy dont these IDIOTS understand that they will get caught one day or the other.
