Avici and Huawei Technologies in pact

NORTH BILLERICA: Avici Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:AVCI), Wednesday announced a partnership with Huawei Technologies to use Avici Systems' carrier class routing products in Huawei's data communications portfolio in China. The Avici products are complimentary to the Huawei family of routing products and are available today to offer complete end-to-end carrier solutions. China is one of the fastest growing markets in the world for telecom and is the second largest country for Internet penetration with over 45 million Internet users at year-end 2002. Huawei is the largest private telecom company in China, and a powerful local partner for Avici. The Avici family of products is a perfect addition to the spectrum of telecommunications products already offered by Huawei. Avici is looking forward to leveraging the 18,000 Huawei employees focused on expanding China's telecommunications infrastructure.
