BANGALORE: Autodesk, a leading global software and services company, plans to undertake a major expansion of its manpower in India. Paying her maiden visit to the country, Autodesk Chairperson and President Carol Bartz told reporters here that ''India has exciting potential for growth in sectors such as manufacturing and infrastructure and is one of the important geographies in which Autodesk aims to expand.'' She, however, declined to give the investment proposal or the number of people the company would be adding. All that she said was that the company would witness a substantial growth. Ms Bartz said the major problem facing the company was piracy of its software products across the country. ''It is a major concern and we are out to tackle it effectively.'' She ruled out setting up a Development Centre in India. However, the company was currently executing some of its jobs through a software development company, Symphony. She said the company's turnover was expected to cross one billion dollars during the next fiscal.
