BANGALORE: Australian telecom major, Optus will move 150 call center jobs to India soon with a view to control costs and cash in on India’s reputation as the BPO hub of the world. US technology company Convergys that has a facility in Bangalore has been contracted by Optus to set up and manage the call center. According to sources, Optus had been planning to move jobs to India for the last one year under its "transformation" project. The company yesterday confirmed moving 150 jobs to India soon, though it was not clear how many of Optus's 3500 call centre staff will be affected in the years to come. Optus legal, regulatory and public relations chief Paul Fletcher said: "We expect it to grow over time, but we don't want to be any more specific than that."
