HYDERABAD: U.K. based wireless gaming provider Aurona Technologies has teamed up with a slew of international carriers for its gaming and location-based solutions, and is now in talks with several Indian telecom carriers for wireless solutions. It has embarked on an expansion plan that would see its promoters infusing $2.5 million in an India development center based in Hyderabad. The Head of Indian Operations and Director of Aurona, Amol Gurwara, said, "The company was created by three people coming together in the U.K. with a mission to be different. Over the year, we have developed innovative applications and have managed to become cash positive in its first year of operations. We are also in the process of finalizing plans for additional funds. "Given the business potential, we have embarked on an expansion process of our development center in Hyderabad, wherein we expect to add about 220 people this year and move to a larger facility. This would mean more investments both in infrastructure and manpower. "Drawing from a small development team, we have created a series of innovative gaming content and have adopted the route of partnering operators to reach them out to users. In our quest for newer applications, we have developed a wireless dating service for European countries and the US. Having thus far focused on the European carriers, we are now eyeing the huge market out there in the US. The core promoters of the company are also in India holding parleys with operators to reach out our solutions," Gurwara said. Aurona experts help interoperability of various gaming inputs while developing specialized content for operators. "Trends point towards location-based services becoming popular soon. Just imagine if one were to land in a particular city and wants to contact a particular group of people or an individual. Such a service would serve as an ideal foil," he said.
