MUMBAI: Global consulting and infotech services company Atos Origin will raise the headcount of its Indian operations over seven fold to 5,000 and scout for acquiring IT arms of energy and banking entities for outsourcing business in the country. Following acquisition of Schlumbergersema's IT business, Atos Origin's manpower in India has grown to 700 and combined operations would now focus on the national business for energy, telecom and financial services as well as outsourcing for global clients, company chief executive (Asia-Pacific) K C Neoh told reporters on Tuesday. The global consulting outfit targets to double its turnover to €10 billion by end of 2005 and the Indian operations would play crucial role with high quality talent and cost advantage, Neoh said. "We are working out of Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi and our team is looking for new locations to expand operations and ramp up human resource base to 5,000 in next three years,” he said. The offshore work for some existing clients and new business would be carried out from India but there would be very few jobs transfers, he added.
