HYDERABAD: A Federation of Asian Biotech Associations has been formed to promote the biotechnology industry in the continent. The decision was taken here Saturday on the concluding day of the Bio Asian 2004 biotechnology conference here. India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore and Israel will be the members of the Federation. Andhra Pradesh industries secretary B.P. Acharya told reporters the federation would be a platform for interaction between biotech experts of the region. "The need for creating such a platform was felt because of the gap in the progress made between the developed countries and those in the Asian region.
