Apple sued over iPhone's web surfing technology

Bangalore: After being sued for MP3 monopolization, iPhone's innovative technologies have caused another beating for Apple. The iPhone maker has become a target of a lawsuit that claims to patent a technology used by the iPhone to surf the web.
Filed by EMG Technology LLC, the lawsuit alleged that the technology the iPhone uses to navigate and display websites designed for small phone screens, infringes on a patent obtained last month by real estate developer Elliot Gottfurcht and two co-inventors and assigned to EMG.
But similar technology is also used by HTC, the maker of G1 Google Phone and Research in Motion, the maker of Blackberry, whereby the mobile websites are displayed. Commenting on their supposedly biased reaction to the situation, Gottfurcht's lawyer Stanley Gibson, a partner with the Los Angeles law firm Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro says, "We haven't looked at anything other than the iPhone. That was the device that we looked at. Obviously it's very popular."
However, Apple reportedly declined to comment on the issue.
