Bangalore: The American Customer Satisfaction Index( ACSI), released, found that Apple, which is judged within the computer category, has consistently ranked the highest of any hardware manufacturer surveyed for the last seven years. The Windows 7 operating system has made amends for a loathed prior generation of the Microsoft software. The Overall satisfaction with personal computers averaged 78 percent and the Windows-based models by Acer, Dell, Hewlett-Packard recorded a one percentage point below the average. "Nearly all brands showed increases in satisfaction and no manufacturer declined," said Claes Fornell, the Director of the National Quality Research Center at the University of Michigan who led the research. "Lower prices, better service, and an emphasis on new, smaller systems and a variety of portable PCs helped drive the improvement." Computers running on Windows operating systems "made large gains in the second year of Microsoft's release of Windows 7. And this marked a recovery from the problems associated with the Windows Vista software. There had been a four percent improvement in the way people felt about their computers. The Index found that around 86 percent of Apple buyers reporting they were happy with their purchase. The iPad is "the highest-scoring product Apple has, and therefore the highest-scoring product ACSI has ever tracked. Majority of the experts feel that Apple's success this year can be partially attributed to the iPad.
