Apple purchases former HP campus at Cupertino

California: Apple's holdings in Cupertino are increasing in an unprecedented fashion. And the latest testimony to this is its acquisition of the 98-acre campus at 19091 Pruneridge Avenue, earlier owned by Hewlett Packard (HP). With this deal, Apple now owns 57 buildings in Cupertino, making Apple the largest land owner there.
The newly-acquired land was vacated by HP in the summer of this year. The new place is barely a five minute drive from Apple's headquarters.
Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said about the deal, "We now occupy 57 buildings in Cupertino and our campus is bursting at the seams. These offices will give us more space for our employees as we continue to grow."
There has been no official announcement on the price of the land deal; however, realty experts speculate it to be around $300 million or more. Apple has not announced its plan regarding the newly acquired place. It is most likely though that it will be used to house the company's growing workforce.
