Mumbai: Apple Computers, makers of the digital music and video player iPod, has chalked out a new marketing strategy to expand its footprint in India and is looking for more channel partners to market its products. The company plans to expand its presence in the domestic market in Tier II and Tier III cities and aims to sell iPods at bookstalls, music stores and online portals, Apple's Asia Pacific Product and Marketing Manager (Portables) Yeo Eng Yiong said. Apple currently has a tie-up with HCL to market and sell its iPods but is looking for more channel partners in the country, Yiong said. "The new initiative will be implemented in Tier II and Tier III cities. Apple currently sells iPods through its authorised resellers but now we are looking to sell our music player at bookstalls, music stores and online portals," he said adding that the new strategy is aimed at increasing the Indian customers' shopping experience. The company recently launched new models of its iPods, which would be available through its authorised resellers across the country. The new models are priced in the range of Rs 13,200-Rs 16,400. "The new iPod's brighter and vibrant display and longer battery life will make it perfect for watching home movies and video podcasts right in the palm of your hand," he said.
