NEW DELHI: The Group Apollo Thursday announced the launch of its online lottery business with an investment of 2.5 billion over the next three years. "We hope to establish a leadership position in the online lottery business by exploiting and expanding the market potential," said Onkar Kanwar, chairman of the Delhi-based Group Apollo. Lottus, the online lottery business arm of the 23-billion Group Apollo, will operate under the Arunachal Pradesh state government lottery. It will be sold in all lottery-playing states in the country from September, Kanwar told a news conference here. Lottus will initially have a chain of 1,000 retailers across the country, which would be increased to 5,000 retailers by the end of next year. "Lottus will revolutionise the Indian online lottery market with innovative games as well as world class technology not seen in the country before," said Raaja Kanwar, Apollo's joint managing director.
