Apalya to broadcast Discovery channel on mobile TV

Mumbai: Apalya has tied up with Discovery Networks Asia Pacific (DNAP) to broadcast the bouquet of Discovery channels on Apalya's mobile TV platform. Of the five channels that run in India from the Discovery stable- Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Discovery Turbo, and Discovery Science will be available in the mobile platform. Rahul Johri, Senior Vice President and GM, India, DNAP said, "This tie-up to broadcast our channels on mobile TV is yet another step forward in the direction of leveraging new technologies to create additional touch points for our current and prospective viewers, who can now enjoy their favorite programs on the go." The content broadcast will have to be paid for and is offered by several networks like Idea, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, MTNL, Reliance, Docomo, Tata Indicom, Tata Photon Plus, Virgin VFlash and Reliance Net Connect. Viewers can select from three options: daily, weekly and monthly costing 7 per day to 150 per month. Vamshi Reddy, Founder and CEO, Apalya said on the tie-up, "This partnership underscores Apalya's commitment in bringing rich and differentiated TV content to mobile users across India." The requirement to view the content is a mobile TV application. Users having GPRS connection connection can download the application via the mobile-enabled WAP sites of their respective service providers.
