Bangalore: Global smartphone sales is expected to grow 50 percent this year compared to 2010 and Android will become the world's most popular operating system for the devices, says a new report by the research firm IDC. According to the study, the number of smartphones in use will reach approximately around 450 million, an increase of some 147 million more than in 2010. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based research group stated that rate lags the 74 percent growth last year as customers made purchases they had delayed once due to recession.
