American Mega Trend to Launch Two Products

BANGALORE: American Mega Trends (AMI), a $75 million company, commercially launched its two products, StorTrends iTX which is an IP SAN solution and STRIX Enterprise Wireless LAN System which is a third-generation wireless LAN solution. The world storage market is growing rapidly and the SMB (Small and Medium Businesses) segment alone is growing at 43 percent CAGR. From about $5 billion in the year 2002, the storage business is expected to be $19 billion dollars by the year 2006. AMI India is expecting revenues of Rs 5 crores in first year from IP SAN solution. Speaking at the launch, Jayaram Krishnan, CEO & Director, AMI India, said, “AMI’s StorTrends iTX enables users to implement a cost effective hybrid SAN and NAS system which can be used by enterprises in India who have local and wide area networks.” Commenting on the product, Krishnan added, “IT administrators for SMBs can now manage all StorTrends iTX and StorTrends NAS servers from a single console; along with tracking and planning the growth of storage resources deployed across the enterprise.” AMI has partnered with Strix Systems to distribute their Enterprise Wireless LAN system, Strix Systems Access/One Network. It is the third-generation wireless LAN solution, leaping past the traditional access point and emerging switch architecture to mesh architecture; a self-discovering, self-configuring, self-tuning and self-healing wireless network incorporating robust security and comprehensive management within a single wireless network. The enterprises in India are looking for a highly secure Wireless LAN solution, which is reliable, and can give the throughput, which can be expected from a normal wired LAN. The Strix wireless LAN solution meets these needs and actually offers security, which is better than that of the wired network. The demand is in the nascent stage and expected to grow very rapidly during 2005. The system is targeted at medium and large size manufacturing facilities, hospitality, educational campuses, hospitals and large corporates, where Wireless LAN can be deployed instead of wiring up the network.
