Altera launches processor design contest in India

BANGALORE: Altera Corporation, the providers of programmable logic devices, has launched 2005 Nios soft-core embedded processor design contest in India. The contest aims to increase the students’ interest in embedded processors while improving their design skills and results in the development of System-on-a-Programmable Chip (SoPC) system design. Students from educational institutions in India can apply for this contest as individuals or as a team of 3 students. The designs submitted in this contest should be implemented using the Nios or Nios II embedded processor on Altera FPGAs. The team winning the 1st prize will receive a cash award of $1,000. There will also be a cash award of $500 and $250 for the second and third prize respectively. In addition, there will also be a cash award of $150 for the Best Instructor. The deadline for the 2005 Nios soft-core embedded processor design contest is 15 April for application and 15 September for submission of the final design.
