HYDERABAD: Product design consulting, engineering software and high-performance computing major Altair Engineering, is increasing its operations in India through its Bangalore-based 100% subsidiary Altain Engineering India, reports an Indian daily. Apart from setting up an international support centre for providing full-blown product life cycle management services to clients, the group is also looking to shift its software testing operations to its Bangalore centre where it has committed an investment of $2 million. At the same time, the US company’s offshore engineering services arm involved in the execution of CAE Consulting projects for various customers world-wide will also set up a competency centre for grid computing given the fact that grid computing activity is set to increase in the APAC region in the coming years. “We are looking to add at least 15 more people to the support centre team apart from increasing the size of the software testing team from the current 50 people to 80 at least within the next year,” senior company officials said. Altair Engineering is a leading software products company for modelling, visualisation, optimisation and process automation in the computer aided engineering market. The competency centre for grid computing in Bangalore, which will come up within the next year, would seek to develop the skill sets in the market and generally evangelise the concept in the country apart from enabling alliances between institutions, Rajneesh Shinde, Altair Engineering India, said.
