THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Airtel, India's largest cellular provider, has entered the UAE market with its prepaid 'Magic' SIM cards. Press Centre, Dubai, has obtained the distribution rights for the SIM cards on behalf of Feeling General Trading of Dubai. The agreement for this was signed here Friday by T. Elango, Airtel's CEO for the Kerala circle and Sajjad Hassan, vice chairman of the Press Centre. Airtel southern hub CEO P. Swaminathan, territory sales manager T. Pramod Kumar and Press Centre's Kerala bureau chief S. Radhakrishnan were also present. Since Airtel covers 16 Indian states, its pre-paid cards will be most beneficial to the NRI population in UAE, said Swaminathan. Besides, the prices are very competitive and suited to even the lowest income categories, he said. Press Centre has a wide distribution network in all the emirates of the UAE with a large workforce dedicated to door delivery, said Hassan. The centre owns many popular publications in the UAE and distributes various others too. Press Centre recently opened its bureau here for its Malayalam weekly publication published from Dubai "Arabia Friday". It also hopes to produce TV programmes from here. A major promotional campaign for this is to be launched in Mumbai soon with the help of Bollywood.
