Airtel crosses 800,000 customers in Himachal

Shimla: Airtel Bharti, the oldest mobile service provider in Himachal Pradesh, has crossed 800,000 customers in the hill state, a company official said Sunday. "According to figures released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), we now have 8,05,399 customers March 31, this year," said Sanjay Bahl, Himachal Pradesh Airtel chief. "Today the company has its presence in all the twelve districts of the state, including snow covered Lahaul & Spiti, which remains cut off from the rest of the country for more than half the year," he said. Company officials said the number of Airtel mobile towers across the state has touched 850. Airtel began operations in the hill state over a decade ago and is the leader. It is followed by state run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) with 540,000 customers.
