SRINAGAR: Barely in six months of its launch in Jammu and Kashmir, India's largest private cellular service provider Airtel has crossed one-lakh subscribers in the militancy-hit state. The cellular company is now planning to cover a total of 72 towns by the end of the current fiscal as part of its next phase of expansion in the state, a company statement said today. Airtel has also effected certain changes in its tariff. The postpaid customers will now be charged 50 paise per minute for calling Airtel to Airtel. The scheme would be applicable from May 11 to June 20. ''We are overwhelmed by the response to our services in Jammu and Kashmir. The entry of Airtel has led to the expansion of the market in the state and has also provided more choice to the customers,'' the statement added.
