Thiruvananthapuram: Air New Zealand's cargo business will now be managed by iCargo, a new generation cargo management system developed by Technopark-based IBS Software Services here. IBS Software Services is a leading global provider of new-generation IT solutions to the travel, transportation and logistics industry. Air New Zealand, one of the world's top 50 air freight carriers based on freight tonne km, is the third major carrier, after Nippon Cargo Airlines and All Nippon Airways, to sign up for iCargo. IBS' iCargo will help Air New Zealand integrate its cargo business, both domestic and international, and address the current and future business requirements of carrier's entire airfreight operation, IBS said in a statement after the two signed an agreement. Air New Zealand has collaborated with IBS and five other cargo carriers to help build the iCargo product and is aware of the rich functionality the product offers and the many ways it can help the carrier enhance its cargo business, the statement said. Rick Nelson, general manager, Air New Zealand Cargo, said Air New Zealand's decision to implement iCargo signals an exciting time for the carrier. "It's about repositioning the Air New Zealand's cargo business to deliver customer value, a continuation of cargo's strong contribution to the Air New Zealand group, and importantly, job security and satisfaction for our people in Cargo. IBS and iCargo are an important step in that strategy moving forward," said Nelson. IBS Group Chairman and CEO V.K. Mathews said: "This deal would be a logical conclusion and an endorsement of our joint vision to create the most definitive cargo management system for the air transportation industry." The value proposition of iCargo is that it helps airlines and ground handlers enhance cargo business profitability and accommodate changing customer service demands, he said. Air New Zealand operates over 380 international flights per week, serving 32 cities in 18 countries. IBS offers a range of products and services to manage mission-critical operations of major airlines, airports, oil and gas companies, seaports, cruise lines and tour operators worldwide. IBS has business operations in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa through its 11 global business centres.
