Air-India to hive off hotel, flight kitchens

MUMBAI: Flag-carrier Air-India is to sell the Centaur Hotel in Delhi and the two flight kitchens owned by its subsidiary, Hotel Corporation of India, it was announced Tuesday. The airline, which has already sold the two Centaur hotels it owned in Mumbai, said it would sell the 376-room Centaur Hotel at Delhi airport and two flight kitchens by auction. The airline has retained JP Morgan India as the global advisor for the sale, and expressions of interest for acquiring the properties have to be filed before November 11. Prospective buyers should have a net worth of at least 250 million, Air-India said. The flight kitchens have a capacity of 8,000 meals per day. HCI currently has 689 employees, having given the golden handshake to 306. HCI had last year sold the Juhu Centaur hotel hotelier Ajit Kerkar's Tulip Hospitality and the Airport Centaur to Batra Hospitality, which resold it to the Sahara group.
