Bangalore: Adobe Systems recently said that it has signed a definitive agreement to launch a public tender offer to acquire all of Day Software Holding AG's shares for about $240 million, a move that highlights the expansion of its portfolio of Web content-management offerings.
"Day Software, of Basel, Switzerland, specializes in Web Content Management, Digital Asset Management and Social Collaboration, which Adobe plans to use to strengthen its enterprise software offerings," it said in the statement.
Day will become a product line within Adobe's Digital Enterprise Solutions Business Unit, and Day's CEO, Erik Hansen, will join Adobe as part of the deal.
"With the addition of Day to our enterprise portfolio, we will be able to enhance the value of our offering and deliver on our vision of the Web as the hub of customer interaction," the U.S. software vendor said.
The acquisition is part of Adobe's continuing strategy to become a comprehensive provider of software for creating and managing creative content online, an expansion of its traditional niche as a maker of tools for graphic artists. Last year, for example, Adobe bought Omniture, a Web analytics company that helps companies monitor customer activity online.
Day Software's products help companies manage the unstructured content including files - containing animation, video, photos or text that are used to power company websites.
