BANGALORE: Bangalore based Accord Software and Systems Pvt Limited, a technology oriented firm with focus on Aerospace, GPS, Wireless Communication and Enterprise domains, has successfully partnered with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on its Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) spacecraft programs. Accord had established itself as the first company in the country to have successfully developed indigenously a GPS-based Spacecraft Positioning System for the IRS spacecraft recently launched by the ISRO, a company release said. "The onboard SPS, developed and supplied by Accord, receives signals from GPS satellites and computes position, velocity and time for the IRS spacecraft. These parameters are stored for the entire orbit duration and downloaded to the ground station with a tele-command," the release quoted company Executive Director S Purushotham as saying. Accord's SPS had already been flown in four IRS spacecraft since 1999, including the recent launch of CARTOSAT 1 spacecraft by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle on May 5 last. The SPS in CARTOSAT-1 was functioning well and sending the required messages periodically to the Ground Station, according to Ground Control Facility at ISTRAC. Company Managing Director J M Sundaresan said: "Accord has excellent GPS core technology knowledge, skills and experience. The technology is applicable for use in automotives, consumer electronics and aerospace applications. Accord has already applied for four international patents in the area of GPS technology."
