Accenture violates recruitment norms: IT biggies
Bangalore: Leading Indian IT companies have lodged a complaint against Accenture with industry lobby Nasscom, saying that it has violated campus recruitment norms by starting placements in some colleges a semester ahead, reports Chandra Ranganathan of the Economic Times. Earlier, IT companies used to hire engineering graduates a year before the completion of their course. But, last year colleges had been asked by Nasscom to postpone their placement season to the final semester to ensure that software companies would go for just-in-time hiring across campuses. Although the industry is back on track now, Nasscom wanted the same practice to be followed for the 2010-11 batch. But IT firms including TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Cognizant have accused Accenture of violating this directive by hiring students in a couple of colleges based in Pune and Ahmedabad. The two colleges where Accenture has started recruitment are Sinhgad group of institutions in Pune and Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication in Gujarat.
