Accenture doubles staff in India

CHENNAI: US BPO major Accentrure has doubled its staff in India in the last one year riding on the BPO wave. In the year ended November 2004, the company’s staff in various facilities across India stood at 11,000 as against 4,300 a year before. Accenture will continue to hire experienced professional for its services like finance transaction processing, customer relationship management, IT helpdesk support, application development, SAP support, PeopleSoft and Oracle application, company said. Accenture’s Indian operations, operating since 1987 are spread in Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai are doing high end and complex outsourcing jobs and serves over 100 clients in India. The company works for seven of the ten business groups, six of the ten pharmaceutical companies, three top paper companies, and five big textile companies. The Indian delivery centers provides a variety of services including applications development and maintenance as well as BPO capabilities like call center, human resources, finance and administration functions.
