NEW DELHI: In its bid to expand services in India, Accenture, global management consulting and technology service providers, announced the launch of a delivery center in Gurgaon, which in turn would supplement their plans to raise company headcount. Located in the National Capital Region of Delhi, India, the delivery center would be the company’s tenth such facility in India and Gurgaon is Accenture's sixth city presence in India after Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune, totaling up to more than 200 Accenture clients, signifying growth of the company’s Global Delivery Network. The facility will work for application and infrastructure outsourcing and systems integration services and will provide them across a full range of technology capabilities including in the areas of JAVA/J2EE, SAP, Microsoft.Net, Mainframes and testing. "This new facility in Gurgaon will support our growth plans in India, which is a key node in Accenture's Global Delivery Network," said Keith Haviland, managing director, Accenture Delivery Center for Technology. Accenture's Global Delivery Network comprises more than 47,000 people, and the new center’s capacity is for 1, 100 seats, in turn raising recruitment drives among the region's substantial population of well-educated and talented technology graduates and professionals. In this background, the company also announced its Asia expansion with plans to double its headcount in India, Philippines and China to 50,000 professionals by fiscal ’08 from the existing strength of 24,000 professionals. “In the next two years, our total strength in India, Philippines and China will rise to 50,000. India will be the biggest contributor. However, we are also growing our other centers including offshore and near shore facilities. We have just opened a center in Budapest,” said Haviland. With 19,000 Indians on its roll, Sandeep Arora, lead executive, Accenture Delivery Center for Technology in India, said that Indian market was focused on specific domains, and that the company plans to offer avenues for experienced Accenture professionals across levels and technology specialties to relocate to Gurgaon.
