Santa Clara: A multi-staged venture capital firm Quantum Capital Fund (QCF) has launched a $200 million fund in the U.S. Its U.S. operation is led by Silicon Valley technology pioneer, Arnold Magcale, and is headquartered in Santa Clara. The South Africa-based QCF has made numerous investments across the globe, including Skye Media Productions, a digital production company that provides video production, editing, animation and visual effects, in addition to music, and Script Seven, a technology company that develops software for applications in e-commerce, content management and audio-visuals, among others.

Founded in 2004 by Julian Pencilliah, its U.S. operations are being led by Arnold Magcale, formerly with Motorola and Danger. The firm also informed about their first investment in U.S.: a $30 million investment in The Jetstream, which the firm describes as a social media network that targets a wide variety of people who are on a journey to self-discovery. It also provides direct investments and business expertise to organizations operating across the information technology, online media and internet-related sectors.

Abhir Dayarm is the CEO of QCF. He is a specialist in private equity and international finance. As the CEO of the company, Dayaram has positioned the company as a multi-staged venture capital firm, specializing in Information Technology and online media. He spearheads the valuation process of investment opportunities and heads the professional team of QCF.

Arnold Magcale, CTO, QCF, said, “Establishing presence in the U.S. is a natural extension of QCF, having already created an impressive international investment and business track record. Combining my broad experience in technology and know-how in the way U.S. businesses operate with Julian’s global experience will offer a holistic approach to investing in the U.S.” Magclae has more than 15 years of technology and corporate venture experience, most recently with the launch of T-Mobile Sidekick, Microsoft Danger and the Motorola Android operating system.

Julian Pencilliah, Chairman and Founder, QCF, said, “QCF is one of the first companies from South Africa to invest in such a project and established a venture capital presence in the U.S. We are excited to bring the Jetstream project to the U.S. and extend our investment reach.” Pencilliah provides the corporate vision and intellectual framework to meet the increasingly diverse and sophisticated needs of the economic overall global vision and investment strategy.
