AT&T bags 3-year IT services contract from Harley-Davidson

New Delhi: American telecom giant AT&T on Tuesday said it has bagged a three-year contract from Harley-Davidson to provide IT enabled services to connect the iconic bike-maker's offices in India to the US headquarter to support its growth plans. The company will provide Virtual Private Network (VPN) and network integration services connecting Harley-Davidson's offices in India to the US headquarter to support its growth plans in India, AT&T said in a statement. However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the contract. Under the new agreement, AT&T India will provide network capabilities to sites in India, allowing Harley-Davidson's Indian employees to effectively and timely communicate with their counterparts in the US. "We have worked with AT&T in the United States for a number of years to support our business and telecommunications needs. We have relied on AT&T's global presence and expertise in helping us enter new markets and countries, "Harley-Davidson India MD Anoop Prakesh said. AT&T India will also provide Harley-Davidson network integration consulting, equipment procurement, staging, configuration, deployment and staff augmentation pertaining to building the communications network for the new sites in India. "We are delighted to win the contract from Harley-Davidson as it is a testament to our ability to understand and meet complex requirements by providing highly-effective customised solutions," AT&T Global Network Services India Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gopi Gopinath said. To facilitate its plans, Harley-Davidson requires a reliable and scalable network connection between the US and India that can be used for data delivery, as well as supporting a wide range of applications, said AT&T Harley-Davidson also needs a global communications company with a strong presence in India to design and execute the project effectively and efficiently, the company said. AT&T India has provided networking solutions to Harley-Davidson in the US.
